Children's Activities in Penang by GH
Lately there seem to be quite a few inquiries for
Children's activities in Penang. Maybe those who need this info. would
be helped by a list here. We had children in Penang and they really
enjoyed it. Of course the best activity I could find was a bucket and
shovel on the beach and hotel pools with waterslides, check out the
Golden Sands and Rasa Sayang for great children's clubs and activities.
The big hotels also plan activities like snake shows, back of the house
tours, cooking lessons, etc. Arcades abound in all the shopping centers.
Island Plaza has a nice cinema. The Pinang cultural center is great
for kids, they can try their hand at batik painting, top throwing, dart
gun blowing, learn about Malay song, customs and dance, the Butterfly
Farm is very interesting for the kids-the butterflies land on you, there's
a waterpark on top of Midlands shopping center, the Botanical Garden
is great for those tykes that love to run without worries of traffic,
monkey watching outside the gates there can be fun, the Municipal Park
(formerly Youth Park) has nice playgrounds and lots of room to run,
for older children jet skis and Internet cafes can entertain. Hire a
trishaw and ride through the streets of Georgetown, an experience you
may not get anywhere else! The ride up Penang Hill on the cablecar is
fun-though it can be hot and crowded. If you have a kid that loves transportation
that's fun-as is a ride on the ferry. I think that walking the streets
of Georgetown and visiting the local wet markets is still the best "entertainment"-
the variety of foods in Penang can entertain everyone! Penang is full
of experiences for visitors that go beyond an amusement park-I encourage
all to visit Penang for it's color and rich culture. GH |
